Comfort Select Autocycling & Dual autocycling Breastpump
When Evenflo introduced its patented fully-integrated bottle system in 1935, one can visualize the delight with which the then mothers must have greeted its arrival. Obsolete hand pumps, that must then have been deployed because of lack of choice, must have been contemptuously discarded in favor of the brand new contraption!
What Evenflo achieved then, it continues to do so. With its "Comfort Select" Autocycling Breastpumps, it has been providing comfort to quite a few generations of breastfeeding moms.
The Comfort Select Autocycling Breastpump allows for single breast pumping at one time, while the Dual Autocycling version allows for both the breasts to be expressed simultaneously. The Dual Autocycling version also comes with a bigger carry bag, obviously due to the addtional pump, and a chillpack. Apart from these points, both the models have exactly the same look, features and functioning.
The baby experiences "growth spurts", that is, times when the growth of the baby is very rapid. These spurts usually come on the third day, after two weeks, between four and six weeks, at the end of three months, and after six months. It is during this time that the baby requires maximum food. Usually, the time between its nursing is quite short, ranging from one to three hours. It is during such times that the mother's milk is required the maximum. Fortunately, in most of the cases, the mother's lactation cycle coincides beautifully with the baby's demands for food. When the mother has to return to work after returning from the hospital, it is the Comfort Select pumps that come in quite handy. In the initial stages, copious amounts of milk are required to be produced and stored. Since every ounce of the milk matters, sufficient quantity of storage containers should be taken along at the place of work. Milk thus stored can be refridgerated to increase their shelf-life.
The Comfort Select Autocycling breast pumps come with soft cushion inserts made of silicone, that snuggle quite comfortably on the breast tissue, around the areola. These pumps have an adjustable vacuum dial that allows the mother to alter the setting to a level where the suction of the pump at her breast is most comfortable. The suck, release, suck cycle is automatic, and the mother just has to relax and let nature take care of the expression.
Milk thus produced is directly collected into Evenflo's bottles that come along with the kit. There are "guards" fitted inside the mechanism, that prevent milk from overflowing and entering the motor's electric circuitry. The pump can be operated both through an AC outlet - an AC adaptor is provided for this purpose - as well as using batteries - which have to be purchased separately.
The pump has a nice-looking, handle that allows the pump to be gripped in the correct position. There are other useful accessories that come with the pack, too, such as nursing pads that can be put on the nipple to help soak the extra moistness, and an insulated compartment that protects both the equipment as well as the collected milk.
For mothers who are concerned, quite justifiably, about providing their baby with breastmilk, and only breastmilk, the Comfort Select Autocycling Breastpumps are quite attractive options.
