Whisper Wear single breastpump
Ever since their launch in 2001, the Whisper Wear breast pumps have caught the imagination of the breastfeeding mother; and especially the working, breastfeeding mom. Always busy multi-tasking on the job, the problem that such mothers face with traditional breast pumps has been that the latter require full-time attention to be given to them, while the expressing activity is on. The Whisper Wear pumps provide hands-free operation, and the mother can continue performing her multi-farious duties, unhindered.
The Whisper Wear single breast pump is useful in other situations also, besides functioning as an invisible assistant to the working mom. There are cases when doctors advice against the child being nursed at the mother's breast. If the mother happens to be lactating without any problems, and if the parents are determined to give their child only the best food on earth which is its mother's milk, then the pump is the best solution for them.
There are times, too, when the mother has to store milk for later use, especially when she is planning to be away from the child for an extended period of time. Such milk needs to be stored in a freezer, and should be thawed evenly before feeding it to the child.
Sometimes the mother's breasts experience extreme fullness, also called engorgement, which cause a lot of pain to her. The child, too, senses the abnormality in the breast and is unable to latch on to it. In such a situation, too, the Whisper Wear pump proves to be useful. There are other times, when the child is being moved towards solid foods, and breast milk is to be discontinued. Pumping and then discarding the milk is the best solution; this enables the breasts to be emptied and not get engorged with time.
The Single Breast Pumping Kit comes with a pump, a single motor and a single breast cup. The collection unit contains a stern and two valves. The kit comes with twentyfive collection bags that have sealing labels, thoughtfully supplied by the manufacturers for putting the name, and the date and time of expression. There is also a carry bag and a cooler pack, along with a dishwasher bag. The motor carries a warranty of one year, while other components can be repaired free of cost within three months of their purchase, in case of any defects.
It is advisable to sterilize the breast cup, the valve and the stern, three components that come in contact with the milk directly, before using the equipment for the first time. For reasons of hygiene and cleanliness, it is also recommended to wash hands thoroughly before starting to assemble the pump, as well as before every usage of the device.
The device requires two batteries - they may be either AA Alkaline (1.5V ea) or NiMH (1.2V ea). The important point to remember is not to mix the battery types, for risk of damage to the equipment. Alkaline batteries have reported better results in terms of longevity and high performance. When replacing the batteries, both should be changed at the same time.
The Pump has two control features that can be used by the mother while expressing milk. The first is the Vacuum Level Slider Switch. This controls the level of suction that the pump provides. The second controls the Cycle Rate, or the speed of operation of the Pump.
The Collection bags that come in the kit are supposed to be for one-time usage only, so it is always advisable to carry a stack of the bags in your purse when away from home. After the milk has been expressed into the collection bags, the latter may be stored in the Cooler Pack. The Cooler Pack should ideally have been fully frozen for up to three hours in advance.
The parts most susceptible to wear and tear are the stern and the valve. Both of them can be purchased separately from retail outlets. Ofcourse, the stock of collection bags should be replenished time and again, much before the stock in hand reduces to zero.
