Measure would provide nusing mothers a break
BISMARCK — Nursing mothers should have a break and a private area at their jobs where they can pump and store breast milk for their infants, a Grand Forks legislator says.
Democratic Rep. Louise “Weezie” Potter’s House Bill 1456 would create a law saying “an employer shall provide reasonable unpaid break time each day to an employee who needs to mechanically express breast milk for her infant child”
Potter and health officials testified that babies enjoy better health when they are nourished with breast milk for at least several months.
